We have been meeting her since last 1 year . With different people at different times . Mrs Magpie was like the new neighbour who came and won all of us over . The quaint little joint in Lake View Road, like the locality epitomized elegance beauty and warmth, all wrapped in one . The beautiful little cupcakes have always been the same everytime although the prices increased. Occasional ham and cheese quiche , sliders and cups of coffees have never disappointed us.
When Mrs Magpie’s cousin set her foot in town, that too in a place nearby to our home, we knew we had to stop by and meet her. An important meeting with an old friend, what could be a better venue . The new joint is a more of a Bistro rather than the usual english tea joint. It will remain open from 12 to 9 PM . Situated at the 2nd floor of The Chambers Mall opposite Gitanjali Stadium at Kasba, the first thing that attracts your attention is the huge window which overlooks the Kasba Connector and a door that opens to a huge terrace .
The chairs and decor are similar in feel as the original Mrs Magpie. The stained glass door with signature little Magpie , the showcase with cakes and cupcakes on display, all remind you of the original Mrs Magpie , however also lures you to spend some time here overlooking the window.
The traditional Cupcakes , Marzipan figures , cookies and the favourite savories like ham and cheese quiche and some puffs is present . We tasted few of the new additions in the menu – Chicken stuffed zucchini (excellent balance of ingredients) , Roasted mutton loin ( more on the lines of tender loin) , Risotto mushroom Arancini and also grilled fish (which was overdone first time and second time the chef delivered the perfect one) .
Also available are Honey Mustard chicken , Moroccan chicken stew, Roast mutton on a bed of Potato Dauphinioise and Rattatouille . The desserts worth mentioning are Raspberry Petit Fours and Coffee Caramel Custard .
Want to catch up with that old friend ? Wanna have that creative spark alone ? Wanna spend some personal time with your spouse ? Check out this place with good food and great ambiance .
Mrs Magpie, thanks for introducing your cousin with her Bistro background. She along her family members have won us over . We will keep on meting her for sure . However between you and us, its an old affair whose flames never die .
P.S. This is not a paid review and we paid for the usual menu. The new offerings on the menu were sampled on the house.
